What is Shara?
Shara (সাড়া) is a Bangla neighbourhood app and website where people within 2 km respond to each other in emergencies, traffic jams and everyday needs. It includes emergency help (SOS), radius chat, a blood donor network, skilled helpers, local shop and doctor listings, rentals, event groups and a private expense ledger.
How does the 2 km radius work?
When you tap the button, your approximate position is read from your browser or phone. You then see people within 2 km who also chose to share their location, with their distance, and everyone in that radius can talk in the radius chat.
Can others see my location?
Your exact position is never stored or shown. It is rounded to about 110 m. Nobody sees you unless you turn sharing on. Others see only your first name and approximate distance; your house or flat label is visible only to connections you accepted.
How does SOS work? Is it a substitute for 999?
Sending an SOS notifies people within 2 km and those who can help reply that they are coming. It is not a substitute for 999 or professional emergency services; in a life-threatening situation call 999 first.
How do I find or become a blood donor?
Post a blood request and matching consenting donors are notified. To become a donor you register with explicit consent; you are not listed until 90 days after your last donation, and your mobile number is shared with a requester only with your consent.
How does private chat start?
You send a signal first. Private chat opens only when the other person accepts; otherwise you can talk only in the open radius chat. You can remove a connection or block someone at any time.
What are points? Are they money?
Points are not money. You earn them for helping others, sharing information, completing tasks or writing reviews. They build your reputation and level and unlock perks and opportunities.
Is the expense ledger really private?
Yes. Your income, expenses and savings are visible only to you — not even admins can see them. You can export them as CSV.
How do I list my shop or profession?
Log in, choose "List yours", and enter the name, type, address and hours. Once an admin approves it the listing is published and neighbours can review it. Health information is not medical advice.
Are rental listings safe?
Every listing is published only after admin approval. The exact address and the owner's number are visible only to inquirers the owner approves. Never pay in advance without visiting, and report anything suspicious.
Can I install Shara as a mobile app? What does it cost?
Yes. Use "Install app" in your phone browser to add it to the home screen. Using Shara has no fee and the app has no payment features.
How do I delete my account and data?
In Settings → "Delete my account", confirm with your password and your profile, posts, chats, ledger and all other data are permanently erased.
